No internet for a while Kuwait

Posted in electronics, Internet, kuwait, news, services tagged , , , , , at 11:41 am by Salah

Internet disruption occurred and it is affecting “Large swathes of Asia, the Middle East and north Africa…There were contradictory reports on the real cause behind the disruption, but Du, a state-owned Dubai telecom provider, attributed it to an undersea cable cut between Alexandria, Egypt and Palermo, Italy.”(cnn.com)[link]

It was also mentioned in the website that “Kuwait’s Ministry of Communications said the problem could take two weeks to solve, according to a statement carried by the state news agency, KUNA.” (cnn.com) [link]

Yea so you’ll be pissed for a while if you’re in the effected region.

Starbucks coffee shelf at walmart

Posted in Food & Drinks, Marketing and advertising, personal, random, review, services, USA at 2:34 pm by Salah

I took this picture a while ago to post it, but I forgot!

This is a stand that is comparatively new for the starbucks canned and bottled drinks. I love the doubleshot espresso (the dark box on the top) and I usually buy the 4 pack from walmart. They used to store it in an ugly place next to the water shelves that you gives you the feeling you are in a warehouse. Now, however, they have this nice and neat looking square that holds the starbucks’ drinks near the cash register. As you can see, it also has a small fridge in the middle for on-the-go single drinks. Starbucks’ products are more attractive now and I am more encouraged than ever to keep buying the doubleshot. They still keep some at the old shelf, but I think it’s just for more space.

Good job Starbucks; now if you can do that to the gas station next to my place it would be even better.

It’s really good to see walmart being redecorated and filled with brand-made shelves like Starbucks’ and Hallmark’s. This way we won’t stick with walmart just for the convenience, but we can also tolerate the short grocery experience.

GTA IV special edition package

Posted in electronics, personal, services, USA, video games at 2:00 pm by Salah

I thought I mentioned this before, but apparently I didn’t.

I reserved a copy of the new beloved video game GTA IV from game stop. They told me that the game will be released around March, but it will actually be released on April 29th.

The special edition will include, in addition to the game, collector’s items. The items will al be included in a metal safety deposit box, and they are:

-GTA IV art book including never-before-seen production art work production from GTA IV.

-Selected soundtrack CD from GTA IV, featuring new material from top artists.

-An exclusive Rockstar keychain for the safety deposit box.

-Completing the collection is a limited edition Rockstar duffel bag.

I really can’t wait!

Screen Actors Guild Awards

Posted in celebrities, movies, Music, news, occasions, TV tagged , , , , , at 12:42 pm by Salah

Yesterday TBS aired the Screen Actors Guild Awards for 2008.

I was so interested to watch the ceremony because there were many actors and actresses that I like. Of course my DVR screwed me up by not recording the whole thing, but I got to watch some of the main things that I wanted to watch. There were shows and people that I never knew before or didn’t know them very well, and there were my favorite actors and shows. So my judgments is only based on my own knowledge and perceptions.

I was disappointed to see Steve Carell lose the “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series award” to Alec Baldwin,’30 Rock.’

However, “The Office” team won the “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.” The strange thing is that the spokesperson the chose for the award was Jenna Fischer (Pam). It should have been Steve Carell (Michael). Well, she wasn’t bad anyway.

You can check out the whole award news and winning list and more on this [link].

White Noise

Posted in celebrities, movies, personal, review, TV at 3:46 pm by Salah

I watched the movie that I always wanted to watch, White Noise. Every time I see it on TV or on the shelves of Blockbuster I get eager to watch, but in the same time not very confident that it will be satisfying. At first I thought the movie was made around 1996 or something because I never knew that Geoffrey Sax Michael Keaton did a movie recently. The movie turned to be a 2005 movie.

After I came back from the movies for “Meet the Spartans,” which is one hell of a crappy movie that will have its own post, I sat down and watched “White Noise.”

I can sum up the whole thing by telling you that I was very satisfied for watching this movie, and as usual, Geoffrey Sax Michael Keaton did not disappoint at all.

This movie is about contacting the dead and receiving messages from them (one of my extreme interests). As Geoffrey’s Michael’s wife dies from a car accident, a guy shows up and tells Geoffrey that he has been in contact with his dead wife.

If I keep talking about the story I might spoil it. However, this little part that I mentioned is what made eager to watch the movie. I promise you, if you love these kinds of stories and movies, you will love White Noise. Oh by the way, this whole contacting the dead is something true and the movie mentions some things about it in real life.

At first I had The Exorcism of Emily Rose as the only scariest movie I have ever watched, and now White Noise comes in second.

Watch it!

Long time

Posted in news, personal, services, video games at 1:03 pm by Salah

It’s been a long time since I posted something. I want to get back on track with blogging. I’ve been back to the U.S now for a while, and what I’m looking forward to now is my special edition copy of GTA IV.

I pre-ordered the copy a while ago from game stop, and they told me that it might be released some time around march. However, the website says it will be in stores on 29/4. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
