Bahranian Sheikh suing Michael Jackson

Posted in celebrities, Music, news at 8:45 pm by Salah

Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa paid $7 million as a loan (I guess) to Michael Jackson’s Album and production that never saw the light; and now he is suing the king of pop for not paying him back. Michael, however, is saying that the money was a gift and not a lawn.

I remember hearing that Michael Jackson has a friend who is a sheikh at Bahrain; and that was one of the reasons why Michael Jackson moved to Bahrain for a while.

Here is the link.

Senator Obama’s grandmother dies before the election

Posted in news, USA at 9:28 pm by Salah

Obama’s grandmother dies one day before the election. Unfortunate loss to Obama since his grandmother is a huge influence on his life and the biggest supporter for him.

I wonder how is this going to affect (or not) the elections.

Kuwait’s ministry of information is back online

Posted in Internet, kuwait, Music, news, review, services, TV at 11:58 am by Salah

For a while now the MOI website of Kuwait was down for some adjustment I think. Now they are back in a very good shape.

I used to go to this website all the time, especially when I first came to the U.S. Even though Kuwait channels aren’t that interesting, you might want to take a peek at it.

The old website was boring, and didn’t have enough links and stuff. Now the website is filled with links and websites related to the TV and broadcasting, magazines, newspapers, radio stations and many other things. So even if you don’t want to watch KTV, you can find links for other stations like AL-RAI TV.

It’s worth a visit.

LOST season four premiere

Posted in celebrities, news, review, TV tagged , , , , , , , , , at 12:40 pm by Salah

Many people think that they are not interested in this show, and they think to themselves what is different about this drama show than any other show that has ever been made in history? Well, if you want one reason to kick your interest up a notch then read this:

LOST pilot episode premiered on September 22, 2004. As for the cost of the pilot episode, it was “the most expensive pilot in television history,[1] primarily due to the expense of purchasing, shipping, and dressing the actual decommissioned aircraft body used to represent the wreckage. It cost between $10 and $14 million.[2] Both parts of the pilot earned high ratings, and the episode would later win many awards.” (wikipedia.com)

Yesterday, Thursday January 31, was the day of the premiere for season four of the famous show LOST. The show was aired on ABC channel with an hour of a recap for the past seasons, and then the first episode of season four. The name of the episode was greatly chosen, and it was “the beginning of the end.”

If you have been watching LOST from the beginning then you already know how the episode works with all the flashbacks and then back to current. However, you would also know that the last episode of LOST season three started a back-flip with using flash-forwards instead of the flashbacks.

The new season continues with the flash-forwards and continues also with the current situation on the island. But this time LOST is going rapid with the action. You will notice how they are losing the slow-style they used to have on the previous episodes. Nevertheless, you will not lose the beautiful sense of LOST that kept you wanting to know what the hell is going on.

If you didn’t watch LOST before, then this is your perfect time to watch it, because this season is the season finale.

Update: season four is not the season finale, but season six is. Thanks Spicy Pepper.

No internet for a while Kuwait

Posted in electronics, Internet, kuwait, news, services tagged , , , , , at 11:41 am by Salah

Internet disruption occurred and it is affecting “Large swathes of Asia, the Middle East and north Africa…There were contradictory reports on the real cause behind the disruption, but Du, a state-owned Dubai telecom provider, attributed it to an undersea cable cut between Alexandria, Egypt and Palermo, Italy.”(cnn.com)[link]

It was also mentioned in the website that “Kuwait’s Ministry of Communications said the problem could take two weeks to solve, according to a statement carried by the state news agency, KUNA.” (cnn.com) [link]

Yea so you’ll be pissed for a while if you’re in the effected region.

Screen Actors Guild Awards

Posted in celebrities, movies, Music, news, occasions, TV tagged , , , , , at 12:42 pm by Salah

Yesterday TBS aired the Screen Actors Guild Awards for 2008.

I was so interested to watch the ceremony because there were many actors and actresses that I like. Of course my DVR screwed me up by not recording the whole thing, but I got to watch some of the main things that I wanted to watch. There were shows and people that I never knew before or didn’t know them very well, and there were my favorite actors and shows. So my judgments is only based on my own knowledge and perceptions.

I was disappointed to see Steve Carell lose the “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series award” to Alec Baldwin,’30 Rock.’

However, “The Office” team won the “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.” The strange thing is that the spokesperson the chose for the award was Jenna Fischer (Pam). It should have been Steve Carell (Michael). Well, she wasn’t bad anyway.

You can check out the whole award news and winning list and more on this [link].

Long time

Posted in news, personal, services, video games at 1:03 pm by Salah

It’s been a long time since I posted something. I want to get back on track with blogging. I’ve been back to the U.S now for a while, and what I’m looking forward to now is my special edition copy of GTA IV.

I pre-ordered the copy a while ago from game stop, and they told me that it might be released some time around march. However, the website says it will be in stores on 29/4. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Call of Duty 4: modern warfare [few issues]

Posted in electronics, news, personal, review, services, video games at 11:01 pm by Salah

I bought COD4 for the ps3 when it came out on the market. I am a fan of the call of duty games, but this game is great. They have modified the online gaming to a great level of enjoyment and excitement. You can do a lot of things when you are playing online. First of all, every time you kill someone in any kind of game mode you will get scores for it and it will add up to give options of modifying your weapons and grenades and such things. You also get promoted to a lot of ranks on your way up. Also every weapon has its own challenge. For example, when you get the sniper and kill 100 people with it, you would get the option to add a better scope for it.

Some other goods about the new Call of Duty 4 online gaming is that you can now create a private room, edit game settings and invite friends. All these things were not available for the Call of Duty 3 on the ps3.

Great news for the Call of Dutylovers who owns a ps3 is that the COD4 now has an offline-multiplayer for either split screen or LAN network.

It is just easy to get addicted to the online game. Oh, I forgot to mention the graphics. The graphics is so far the best graphics I have ever seen on any ps3 game since I got the HDTV. The details are magnificent.

All that said, the game is pissing off a lot of people (including myself) with the errors of the online gaming. Many issues are there, and my issue is that for some reason the progress I get in the online gaming is not being saved. I tried to find a manually-save option but couldn’t find anything. I know for sure that the game is supposed to save the progress automatically, but it is not doing it. I have been playing a lot and reaching good promotions and weapon-options but this issue is killing my work.

I’m getting frustrated that I reached a point where I don’t even want to waste my time playing the online for no saved-progress.

I hope they would find a solution to that problem.

FIFA and Kuwait

Posted in kuwait, news, sports at 9:05 pm by Salah

So the FIFA banned Kuwait “from all international matches because of governmental interference in the national game.” (www.soccernet.espn.go.com). [Link]

I got the link from Mark’s blog at http://www.248am.com

It just keeps rolling in Kuwait.
